ROG x Evangelion OC3D Overview

Introduction and Range

The ASUS ROG x Evangelion range of hardware existed as a EVA-01 suite in the last generation. With a new generation of hardware ASUS have revisited it, and this time they’ve used the most popular character in the Neon Genesis Evangelion world, and arguably all of Anime, Asuka Langley Soryu, pilot of the EVA-02.

We know that the fervent audience for Japanese culture can put off those of you who might not be on board. We also know that it’s possible to look at the collection of hardware below and just see Asuka and thus be dismissive of “anime waifu nonsense”. However, you’d be doing yourself a disservice. Asuka might be the face of the franchise, and as famous as you can get in the anime world, but she dominates the packaging far more than she does the actual hardware, which is more tastefully designed on the EVA-o2 theme. If you changed the pump display image she’s only visible on the spacebar and back of the graphics card.

However, we think Evangelion is fantastic. It’s a rich story with a solid cast of characters. Asuka might outwardly look like every other anime girl, but she’s far deeper than that. Her depth is why she’s the most famous of the NERV group who fight against the Angels, and the poster child for Tsundere characterisation. If you’ve ever wanted to build a rig where everything matches it’s not a simple task. Even grabbing one manufacturers hardware doesn’t guarantee a uniform design. By having everything you could possibly require under the ROG x Evangelion banner, system harmony is a certainty. Let’s take a look.
