Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Tempered Glass Review

Up Close:  Exterior

The Enthoo Luxe measures a staggering 560x235x550mm (HxWxD), but those measurements shouldn’t surprise you if you’ve read the introduction and the Tech Specs.  Although available in the standard version with a normal acrylic side panel, and also available in an Anthracite Grey, the sample we have for review is the Black Tempered Glass version.  We have to say, our first impressions are good.  God damn it, there’s hardly a whiff of plastic to be found on the whole case 

  

 

The right hand side of the case is plain and non windowed, and although this used to be the norm, we kind of have to mention it now as there are quite a few cases on the market that both sides windowed.

  

 

Rather than finish the Aluminium panels in the more line brushed effect, Phenteks have opted for a sand blast finish.  As a result although it’s Aluminium, it doesn’t half look like plastic, which, we think is a real shame.

  

 

The front of the case sports three exterior 5.25″ bays, you know, for all those Optical drives you use on a regular basis.  What appears to be a fourth bay at the top is actually a nicely disguised front I/O, more of which later, but reat assured, that arrow sticker is easily removed.

  

 

There’s also a large front air intake rebated into the front panel with an Aluminium cover plate adding that hint of class.

  

 

Lifting up the door on the fake 5.25″ bay reveals the front I/O which consists of2xUSB3.0, 2xUSB2,0, Audio, Reset, and and a push button switch which toggles the colour of the LED case lighting between 10 colours and three effects.

  

 

The top of the case is dominated by a large steel mesh vent.  The vent is easily removed by pressing down at the rear and releasing, and don’t worry, the sticker indicating where to press is easily removable.

  

 

 

The rear of the case is a pretty standard, though large ATX affair.  There’s a 140mm fan fitted as standard with slots for a 120 should you so desire.  There are also eight expansion slots, unlike the 7 stated on line.  Somebody at Phanteks really needs to proof read their stuff (and tes we know we make the odd typo, but we’re not a multi million dollar international company…Well not yet anyway).  Also of note is that the left hand side panel is located with screws, whereas the right hand window panel has hinges at the rear.

  

 

The case stands on six, yes six, feet.  We did say it was big didn’t we.  Most of the underside is actually given over to filtered vents for both the PSU and any base mounted cooling you wish to include (please don’t).
