Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Tempered Glass Review

Up Close:  Interior

The Tempered glass side panel is secured with suicide style hinges which give good basic access.  The door though is easily removed by lifting it off, for the build stage of the PC.

  

 

Although it’s large on the outside, the inside of the Luxe feels surprisingly cramped, in part with think to our now being used to the absence of drive racks down the front edges of cases.  You can still get an E-ATX board in there though so all is not lost.  Grommets are seen in great effect, with a very generous CPU cut out also being on the menu.

  

 

In total there are three 5.25″ bays, and twin racks of 3.5″ bays, each capable of holding 3×3.5″ drives each.  We have to admit to being a little confused as to why Phanteks think we need this much storage these days.  Perhaps they’re thinking the 5.25″ bays can be used as bay pump/reservoir mounts, but then as we’ll see later, the Luxe actually comes with a pump bracket and a reservoir bracket in its accessory box.

  

 

We’re also a little confused by the presence of the grommeted cable management hole on the side of the PSU cover plate.  OK, we guess you could use it to take power to the GPU, but there are neater ways to do this, not least of which is straight out the back of the PSU cover and up.  OK, we appreciate having it, sort of, maybe we would appreciate it more if we knew what it was for, but for the time being we can’t help thinking it spoils the aesthetic of the cover plate.  On the plus side though, there are a pair of quick release, ahem sorry “Drop-N-Lock” SSD brackets, in a show off location on the front of the HDD cage support panel.

  

 

The rear of the case has a 140mm fan and no less than eight vented PCI slot covers.

  

 

There’s also a 140mm fan in the roof, with the ability to fit a total of 3×140 or 3x120mm fans up there.  We’ll get to water cooling later, but for all those that are looking at the 3x140mm fans and wondering…for now let’s just say, yes you can.
