ASUS RTX 4070 Super TUF OC Review

Introduction

Following on from yesterdays look at the rather curious Nvidia RTX 4070 Super it’s time to look at the TUF. The Super is a card which doesn’t really have a place in the Nvidia range. Or, rather, shouldn’t but they’ve squeezed it in anyway.

However, we know that the Nvidia Founders Edition cards are always good but not spectacular versions of their hardware. Where we truly see the performance is in the vendor cards. Here to be found in the guise of the ASUS RTX 4070 Super TUF OC. If you’re a regular reader then you’ll know that the TUF range from ASUS is their sweet spot. You get a product which has their attention to detail and excellent cooler. But you also have a card which doesn’t jack up the price for shiny RGB or features nobody needs. That isn’t to say that there isn’t a place for Strix and similar cards. Merely that the TUF is all the product you actually need. It’s the VW Golf of the hardware world.

This particular model, the ASUS RTX 4070 Super TUF OC, is the factory overclocked model of the card we saw yesterday. Can the extra clock speed make enough of a difference to make the Super shine brightly? Certainly the vanilla card was okay, if also a little strangely positioned. Either save money and grab the regular 4070 or push the boat out for a Ti. Naturally with products going to EOL it’s nice to know that you’ll be able to source one, and perhaps that’s enough? We’re ahead of ourselves.

Technical Specifications

Here are the specs for the regular card. It’s worth noting that the Super TUF OC obviously is faster out of the box than this, but we’ll get to that in a couple of pages time.
