Destiny 2 PC Performance Review

Destiny 2 Beta PC Performance Review

1440p Benchmarks

One of the first things that should be noted at 1440p is that the order of our GPU lineup changes drastically, with our AMD R9 Fury X and RX 480 GPUs taking significant leaps forward in performance when compared to their respective rivals, the GTX 980 Ti and the GTX 1060.

This favourable performance for AMD at higher resolutions would make AMD’s latest RX Vega series extremely interesting to look at, though sadly we do not have any samples to test over at the OC3D gaming workshop.

We can see that in our worst case benchmarking area that none of our GPUs offers a fully stable 60 FPS framerate, though turning down the game’s depth of field settings to high would be enough to push our GTX 1080 FE over that particular hurdle.

All of the GPUs that we have tested are capable of playing Destiny 2 at 1440p 60FPS with the correct settings, which is great news for those who can’t stand sub-60 framerate dips, with most of the GPUs here requiring the use of High settings to achieve this. Sadly the GTX 1060 and RX 480 will both require some further reductions for complete 60 stability, though the high preset will keep users above this threshold most of the time.
