1440p Benchmarks – AMD VS Nvidia

Cranking things up to 1440p, we found that only the GTX 1080 was able to achieve a constant 60FPS, with the GTX 1070 only seeing a minor dip to 54FPS during our benchmarking run. 

Our testing area in the “Heliodor Region – Parting Place” is slightly more demanding than most areas within Dragon Quest XI, making Nvidia’s GTX 1070 and AMD’s RX Vega 56 suitable for 60FPS framerates throughout most areas of the game, especially where there is not much foliage or many complex shadows. 

At 1440p, our RX 580 and GTX 1060 graphics cards move into the well below 60FPS category, making them suitable for a 30FPS lock for a steady framerate on standard 60Hz displays, or a respectable experience as is on variable refresh rate monitors. 

As we mentioned in our 1080p results, most of the game will tend to stick to around the average framerates of our test area, with dips to our minimum framerate being relatively rare. This is why we say that the RX Vega 56 and GTX 1070 can offer 60FPS framerates in most areas of the game.
