4K Performance – Benchmarking Results

For context, Forza Horizon 4 is designed to run at 4K 30FPS on Xbox One X, making the fact that all of our graphics cards can surpass this framerate target at 4K Ultra settings no small feat. In the case of the RX Vega 56 and GTX 1080, both cards can achieve a solid 60+ FPS by moving down to the game’s high preset, with the GTX 1080 Ti and Nvidia’s latest Turing graphics cards being able to surpass 60FPS at 4K Ultra settings.

In the patch notes for Forza Horizon 4’s day-0 patch notes, the developers stated that Playground Games “Added visual presets for Nvidia RTX 2070, 2080 and 2080Ti“, explaining why the final game has so many options to go beyond the title’s Ultra preset. The RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti have plenty of performance headroom available before they reach sub-60FPS framerates.

Forza Horizon 4 is relatively easy to get running at 4K, assuming that you own hardware that is even remotely capable for the job. Nvidia’s RTX 2080 Ti can even get close enough to 100FPS at 4K to show us why Nvidia wants to make 4K 120Hz G-Sync Big Format Gaming Displays (BFGDs). Forza Horizon 4 looks lush when played on a 4K TV.
