FSR 3.1

AMD FSR 3.1 – Tonnes of performance scaling potential

FSR 3.1 is the newest version of AMD’s FideliyFX Super Resolution technology. While it offers image quality benefits over older versions of FSR, it remains behind DLSS and XeSS in final image quality. Even so, FSR still delivers pleasing results at high resolutions, provided you keep input resolution at reasonable levels.

AMD’s FSR 3.1 tech is a great option for both upscaling and frame generation. With our RX 7900 XT, I achieved frame rates that mostly sat above 120Hz, with FSR upscaling in quality mode and frame generation enabled. That gave us an ultra-smooth experience on PC and pleasing levels of image quality. With optimised settings, we achieved similar feats with much lower-end AMD GPUs. While it isn’t perfect, FSR 3.1 can really let AMD graphics cards punch above their weight class.
