Hitman 2 PC Performance Review

Using older hardware – R9 380 VS GTX 960

A lot of PC gamers use older graphics hardware, whether it be from the used market at bargain basement prices or as an attempt to get your GPU to last as long as possible before your next upgrade.

During their time Nvidia’s GTX 960 and AMD R9 380 were extremely popular amongst gamers, much like their current-gen counterparts, but these mid-range GCN/Maxwell series cards are starting to show their age, especially on the VRAM front.

With Hitman 2, moving the game to our medium settings allowed us to maintain 30 FPS framerates on both graphics cards, which is more than enough to make the game playable and look great. Yes, higher settings look nicer, and 60FPS will feel smoother, but the slow and methodical pace of Hitman makes high framerates largely irrelevant, at least from a gameplay perspective.
