Hogwarts Legacy PC Performance Review & Settings Guide
1080p Performance – CPU and VRAM Limits everywhere
At 1080p our benchmarks showcase some strange results, all of which stem from either CPU problems or VRAM problems. All graphics cards above AMD’s RX 6700 XT deliver near identical performance thanks to the fact that Hogwarts Legacy is CPU-limited, with Radeon graphics cars being slightly less CPU-limited than their Nvidia counterparts. This is how an RX 6800 XT can beat an RTX 4090 in the graph below.
When looking at Nvidia’s RTX 2060 6GB, and its place below our RX 480 in the charts below, we can see that the 6GB RTX 2060 is severely VRAM-limited. Using lower texture settings will deliver much stronger performance levels with Nvidia’s RTX 2060, with Medium textures being ideal for 1080p.
Even for 8GB graphics cards like Nvidia’s RTX 3060 Ti or RTX 3070 Ti, VRAM limitations are still there, with both GPUs benefitting from lowered texture settings. For 8GB GPUs, high texture settings are ideal.
Low-end GPUs
For GPUs like AMD’s RX 480 and Nvidia’s GTX 1060, 60 FPS framerates can be achieved with medium settings with FSR 2.0 set to performance mode. For additional stability, we would cap Hogwarts Legacy’s framerate to 60 FPS, and some gamers may need to lower some settings to low to stabilise framerates in more demanding areas of the game.Â
