4K Path Tracing with DLSS on Nvidia’s RTX 5080

4K Path Tracing with Nvidia’s RTX 5080

A lot of people say that Nvidia’s “Path Tracing” game modes are only for their RTX 5090 users, and I’m here to say that that’s false. Yes, Path Tracing is for Nvidia’s higher-end GPUs, but it isn’t just for Nvidia’s RTX 5090. You don’t need to spend thousands on a GPU to enjoy path tracing.

We already showed 1440p path tracing with an RTX 5070. Below, we can see the performance of an RTX 5080 with path tracing at 4K. Even without frame generation, we can hit 55.5 FPS average framerates with DLSS in Performance mode. This is with maxed-out settings with path tracing. Add on frame generation with Nvidia Reflex, and we have a high-framerate experience that feels great to play. Yes, Frame Generation does a lot of heavy lifting here, but that doesn’t mean that this game doesn’t look and play great!
