Performance Impact – Every Graphical Setting Tested

Before looking at this graph, we will note that we omitted texture filtering and texture detail from the chart below. This is due to the unnoticeable change in performance and a huge impact on graphical detail. Anyone with a relatively recent 2GB graphics card should be able to handle these settings maxed-out at 1080p without any issues. We would not recommend lowering these settings under any circumstances.

When it comes to performance the only graphical setting that has a significant impact on performance is Super Sampling Anti Aliasing (SSAA), which supersamples the game to a higher resolution to deliver a higher-end anti-aliasing effect. Effectively, the game is running at a 4K resolution and then is downsampled to 1080p. It isn’t enabled by default, and therefore should not be considered as an option if you need to increase your framerate.

While SSAO, Realtime Reflections and Motion Blur offer the largest increases to in-game performance, their overall impact is in the low single-digit percentage figures, making the only option for large performance changes being sweeping changes to all graphical settings or a reduction in resolution scaling below 100%.

In our eyes, the only way to have a significant impact on Yakuza Kiwami 2’s performance is to reduce the title’s resolution scale. If you need more than a margin of error performance gain, you have not other viable options.
