Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition PC Demo Performance Review

Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition PC Performance Review

Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition did not have a great showing on PC before launch, with Square Enix releasing a standalone benchmarking tool which was plagued with frame pacing issues and a host of technical problems, leaving PC disappointed with what was supposed to be a dedicated PC version.

The game’s benchmarking utility has also reignited the GameWorks debate amongst PC gamers, with the game being shown in a lot of Nvidia’s marketing materials, offering Nvidia designed graphical effects which have had substantial performance consequences for AMD users in the past.

With the official release of Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition, hopes are high that the title’s performance has improved, offering more stable framerate/frame times with a more detailed graphical options menu and a reduction in stuttering during gameplay.

This demo gives us the opportunity to see exactly how well Final Fantasy XV’s Windows Edition performs, with upgraded graphics over its console counterparts, support for higher framerates and more. How easy will it be to surpass the 30FPS performance targets of the PS4 and Xbox One versions? Can the game be scaled to work with lower-end hardware? Let’s find out!
