Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition PC Demo Performance Review

1080p Benchmarks

While the game could reach the high 80s or early 90s on our GTX 1080 in certain areas, the game hits framerates hard when we enter heavily forested areas or certain highly populated city areas.

In our test scene even the mighty GTX 1080 dips below 60FPS, if only for a moment, showcasing how much stress this title can put on hardware. This is where the game’s dynamic resolution scaler would come in handy on consoles, though PC has no such feature, forcing framerates to dip in these areas, with no mitigation other than lower settings on PC.

A constant 60+FPS is achievable on PC, but only with enough settings tinkering. Remember, Sony’s PS4 Pro aims for 1080p at 30FPS in its Lite, minimal FPS drops mode, so getting 1080p 60 is a huge achievement on PC. If you can stay over 60 in our test area, you can maintain 60 almost everywhere in the game.
