Cinebench has been a staple of the OC3D benchmark suite since we began and it is very good at testing both the single threaded performance as well as the overall thread count of your setup.
As a different 3D rendering engine the qualities of Cinebench echo those of Blender, and the fact the 3990X is twice as fast as the 2990WX that preceded it gives you an indication of how far AMD have brought their flagship CPU in such a short time.
