Makera Z1 Review – CNC Machining for the Masses

Low-Profile Vice

Makera’s Low-Profile Vice for the Makera Z1

Next up, we have Makera’s Low-Profile Vice for its Z1 CNC machine. While you can always mount parts directly onto the Z1 with some spoilboard, it is worth remembering that this spoilboard is a consumable. They will need to be replaced every now and then. Using this vice allows Z1 users to mount stock and cut all the way through it without damaging any spoilboard. While this vice eats into the usable Z-height of the Makera Z1, its low-profile nature limits this problem.

Another perk of using a vice is that attaching stock or material to it is much faster than clamping it down to this machine’s bed.

It’s a handy vice for holding stock material. What more can I say?
