Makera Z1 Review – CNC Machining for the Masses
Makerables
Makera Makerables, a community hub for CNC machinists
Makerables is a home for Makera’s official beginner/tutorial projects and a community hub where Makera users can share their projects. Users can share their CNC files, allowing others to recreate their projects using the same bits, add-ons, and materials.
Sadly, only machine instruction files (Numerical Control/G-code) are shared using this website, at least right now. This means that users must use the same materials and bits as the user who shared them. Makera, if you are listening, the ability to share modifiable project files would be a welcome addition. The option to modify designs for alternative materials or machining bits using these files would be incredibly valuable to users.
New files are becoming available on Makerables regularly. The rate at which new projects are added will only accelerate as more Kickstarter backers and new purchasers get their machines and share their files. This is only just the beginning of Makerables.
Using Makerables, you can easily find and share your Makera projects online. Files can be shared for the Z1 as well as Makera’s larger Carvera and Carvera Air machines. You can also use AI Craft+ to generate reliefs of 3D files. It can also be used to generate images for future projects. Like other maker-sharing spaces, Makera is running contests that will allow Makera users to win prizes for completing/sharing projects.
