Control PC Performance Review & Optimisation Guide

Performance Scaling – RX 580 VS GTX 1060 – 60FPS on mid-tier hardware?

Control is a demanding game, but thankfully, the game can look great when it isn’t maxed out. Even at low settings, Control can offer players a satisfying visual experience, though it would be nice to crank things up a little higher.

Both our RX 580 and GTX 1060 can achieve solid averages of over 30FPS at 1080p at high settings, though lower settings are required to get minimum framerates over the 30FPS mark.

As PC gamers, we know that many of you will not be satisfied with a 30FPS gaming experience. This is where Control’s lower graphical presets will come into play. At low, AMD’s Radeon RX 580 will stay over 60FPS in our benchmark run, while the GTX 1060 will stay above 60FPS in most situations. All console versions of Control target 30FPS framerates. This makes achieving 60FPS on PC a huge upgrade in terms of both responsiveness and smoothness.

Combine this with a VRR compatible monitor and Control will both look and play great on these graphics cards.
