Death Stranding 2: On the Beach PC Performance Review

VRAM Use

VRAM USE

Death Stranding 2 isn’t a VRAM hog. This game does not require a huge amount of memory to run. This makes sense, given this game’s PS5 origins. That console only has 16GB of GDDR6 memory. That’s not much for an entire system.

Even at 4K maxed out settings, Death Stranding consumed less than 12GB of VRAM on our RTX 5080 graphics card. This scaled lower when we disabled ray tracing, and lower still when we lowered the game’s resolution. Note that we had not trouble running Death Stranding 2 on 8GB GPUs, at least at 1080p. At 1440p, we recommend lowering some settings. Though for most 8GB GPUs we would recommend using this game’s High preset anyway.

Lowering Death Stranding’s graphical preset to high will make the gameplayable on 8GB GPUs without any problems, even at 4K. Death Stranding 2 is a very VRAM-friendly game. If nothing else, this game proves that games can look great without consuming insane ammounts of memory.
