Death Stranding 2: On the Beach PC Performance Review

1080p Performance

1080p Performance

Even at Very High settings, it isn’t hard to run Death Stranding 2 at a steady 60+ FPS. That said, users of lower-end GPUs will need to use this game’s High preset to get a consistently high framerate.

Below, AMD’s RX 9070 XT and Nvidia’s RTX 5080 are CPU-limited. This means gamers will need something stronger than our Intel i9-13900K to maintain a stable 120+ FPS framerate at all times. This also means that gamers with uber-high refresh rate displays will likely need to rely on Frame Generation.

With Ray Tracing Maxed out, only high-end GPUs can achieve high framerates. Given ray tracing’s minimal visual impact, these settings are not worth enabling. At a minimum, gamers should set RT reflections to high instead of very high to minimise their performance impact.

Optimised 1080p Gameplay

For AMD’s RX 6600 XT and Nvidia’s RTX 2070 SUPER, using Death Stranding 2’s High Preset with Upscaling can deliver great results. In fact, using his game’s built-in resolution scaler is a great option here, as it can minimise upscaling in less demanding areas and enable it when needed. Set the framerate target to 60 FPS, and let it run.

For Nvidia’s RTX 2070 SUPER, I recommend using DLSS over PICO. For the RX 6600 XT (which lacks FSR 4/4.1 support), PICO is the game’s best upscaling option.
