Death Stranding 2: On the Beach PC Performance Review

Ray Tracing – Performance Hit and Optimisation

After testing Death Stranding 2’s ray tracing settings, I found that ray-traced ambient occlusion alone incurs a low performance cost compared with the game’s highest non-RT ambient occlusion mode. This makes this a worthwhile addition for gamers with newer ray tracing-capable GPUs.

In contrast, ray-traced reflections have a large performance impact, especially when set to Very High. Given their minimal visual impact in most scenes, I would recommend disabling this setting. It’s only worthwhile if your PC has incredibly powerful hardware and can take the performance hit.
