Devil May Cry 5 PC Performance Review

Optimisations for Low-end Hardware – 60 FPS on the R9 380 and GTX 960

But what if I am using an older graphics card? What if I don’t have a lot of VRAM and want to wait for Navi or a Post-Turing GPU before I upgrade? Don’t worry; we have recommendations for users of lower end hardware. Devil May Cry 5 may be easy to run, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t need a helping hand for some older graphics hardware.

When aiming for a resolution of 1080p, we wanted to avoid using interlacing on our R9 380 and GTX 960 graphics cards, as we want to maintain as much image clarity as possible. Users of weaker cards will need to enable interlacing, but with these two cards, we managed to avoid it.

Turning textures down to minimum offered us a huge performance increase for both graphics cards, but we needed to do a lot more than that to get a constant 60. To do this, we changed the following settings from the maximum. These values give us our “optimised” settings for the R9 380 and GTX 960.

Texture Quality – Minimum
Effects Quality – Medium
Shadow Quality – High
Ambient Occlusion Type – Off
Volumetric Lighting Quality – Low
