DOOM: The Dark Ages PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

CPU Performance

Does DOOM: The Dark Ages require a high-end CPU?

DOOM: The Dark Ages is a GPU-heavy game, so much so that we never saw this game become CPU-limited during normal gameplay. We had to disable all but four CPU cores on our Intel i9-13900K CPU to see our CPU performance drop. Even then, it didn’t drop by much.

According to this game’s PC system requirements, DOOM: The Dark Ages needs an AMD Zen 2 or Intel 10th generation CPU or newer with 8 cores/16 threads or better. However, this seems a little overkill. The results below speak for themselves, any modern gaming CPU should be able to run this game well.
