DOOM: The Dark Ages PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

1440p Performance

1440p Performance

[Update – August 2nd 2025] Sapphire has sent their Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT Pulse graphics cards for games testing. This has allowed us to add AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs to our recent games performance analysis articles. Data for these GPUs is now included below.

DOOM: The Dark Ages is a game that scales with resolution, and that means that this game’s performance drops significantly when moving from 1080p to 1440p. Even GPUs like AMD’s RX 6800 XT and Nvidia’s RTX 3070 Ti drop below 60 FPS, majorly so for the latter. Lower settings and added upscaling can boost performance significantly, as we can see below.

With DLSS and FSR set to Quality, GPUs like the RX 6800 XT and RTX 3070 Ti can deliver framerates above 60 FPS throughout our benchmarking area. For lower-end GPUs, gamers will need to drop some graphical settings to boost performance.
