Ghost Recon: Wildlands Closed PC Performance Review

AMD RX 480 VS Nvidia GTX 1060 – Low, Medium, High and Very High Settings

One thing to note in this beta is that we have found a lot of graphical issues in this beta, particularly when it comes to texture streaming on Nvidia hardware at lower graphical settings.  Here are some benchmarks that we have taken from a single player match while driving, though it is worth noting that in this scenario that Nvidia’s GTX 1060 suffered from some noteworthy texture streaming issues, resulting in the game using some extremely low-quality environmental textures, which may have given the GPU a performance advantage. On AMD hardware visuals were much better, which could explain how AMD’s performance takes a nosedive at low settings when compared to Nvidia.

This bug resulted in the GTX 1060 giving a lower quality visual experience at low and medium settings, even when using Nvidia’s latest drivers. We have reported this issue to Ubisoft and hope that it will be addressed before this game officially releases.

When looking at High and Very High settings we can see that AMD’s RX 480 offer a lot less performance than Nvidia’s GTX 1060, which is unsurprising from a Nvidia-branded game from Ubisoft. Even so, it is safe to say that both of these GPUs are not well suited to playing this game at 1440p at high graphical settings and framerates, which means that PC players will either need to greatly reduce the game’s graphical quality or reduce the game’s resolution or resolution scale.
