Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

4K Performance – Benchmark Results

As we mentioned on our 1080p results, Red Dead Redemption 2’s 4K performance is roughly 50% of the performance that we see at 1080p in our comparative benchmarks. This represents a 50% performance decrease for a 4x increase in pixel count. That’s a good trade, depending on how you look at it.

Using Red Dead Redemption 2’s Maximum Preset, we can see that no current-generation graphics card is currently capable of running Red Dead Redemption 2 at 4K 60FPS. That said, with enough settings tweaks, most of today’s high-end offers will be able to hit this resolution/framerate target.

The trick with Red Dead Redemption’s PC version is to consider the game’s Ultra options as next-generation level settings. Consider them like Crysis’ highest presets. Red Dead Redemption 2 can look great at lower settings, proving that you don’t need insane hardware to get this game to look good.
