Starfield PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

Starfield PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

4K Performance – Good luck running Starfield at high framerates at 4K

At 4K, Starfield is extremely hard to run on PC, especially if you are targeting 60 FPS framerates. Even AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Nvidia’s RTX 4090 fail to achieve 60 FPS in demanding areas of the game, which means that achieving the same feat on lower-end hardware is an even harder ask.

Starfield is a game that is crying out for frame generation features like AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 or Nvidia’s DLSS 3 technologies. This game is hard to run on PC, so any way to increase this game’s smoothness would be welcome.

Once again, Starfield favours GPUs with large caches and a lot of available GPU memory bandwidth. This is possibly why AMD’s RX 7900 XT can outperform Nvidia’s RTX 4080 so handily, and why AMD’s RX 6800 XT is able to best Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Ti. Starfield is a game that makes me want to see new gaming GPUs with HBM3E memory or GDDR7 memory, as I feel that these high speed memory technologies could make Starfield sing!
