Starfield PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

Starfield PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

Starfield at 1440p

For the most part, Starfield’s 1440p performance story is similar to its 1080p story, with AMD GPUs mostly outperforming their Nvidia counterparts and lower-end GPUs struggling to even achieve 30 FPS framerates, never mind 60 FPS. These results make it clear why Starfield is targeting 30 FPS on Xbox Series consoles, as it takes a boat load of GPU performance to achieve 60 FPS on PC.

Without utilising upscaling, GPUs like Nvidia’s RTX 4070 cannot achieve solid 60 FPS framerates in Starfield, even when using our optimised PC settings for the game. In general, Starfield performance gain appears to scale well with memory performance, with GPUs with larger memory buses, faster memory, and large caches outperforming those that lack these features. Perhaps this is why AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 series is performing so well here?
