4K Performance – Benchmark Results

At 4K, Ubisoft’s The Division 2 can bring the mightly RTX 2080 Ti to its knees, pushing the game below 60FPS for a decent chunk of the benchmark, requiring gamers to make a few graphical sacrifices to maintain a solid 60+ FPS. Bumping down to the High preset will be enough to do it, or a small reduction in resolution scale if you would prefer to cut pixels instead of graphical detail.

Below that we can see that Nvidia’s RTX 2080 handily outperforms out GTX 1080 Ti and that the Radeon VII and RTX 2080 are practically equal in terms of 4K performance, though none of these cards is close to 4K 60+FPS. Both the RTX 2080 and Radeon VII require a lot of settings changes to reach 60FPS at 4K, or a near 4K pixel count through resolution scaling.

Moving down we see that RTX 2070 snap at the heels of the GTX 1080 Ti and AMD’s RX Vega 64 following close behind. For 4K 30+ FPS at Ultra, an RTX 2070/RX Vega 64 or better is required, with lower-end GPUs like the GTX 1080, RTX 2060 and GTX 1070 requiring reduced settings to reach this framerate target.

Even today, 4K gaming remains out of reach for most PC gamers in many modern titles, especially when aiming for 60FPS. This is why 1440p resolutions are easier to recommend to PC gamers, especially when component pricing is a factor.
