1080p Performance – Benchmark Results

Even at 1080p The Division 2 can be a demanding release, requiring a Geforce GTX 1070/AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 or better to achieve a steady 60+ FPS at Ultra settings.

For our main GPU tests, we will look at DirectX 12 performance exclusively, as we found that this API delivered the best performance at this resolution on both Radeon and Geforce graphics cards.

With our older GTX 960 and R9 380 graphics cards, game performance was abysmal, though this is primarily due to the small 2GB frame buffers on each GPU. Look on page 12 for a performance optimisation guide for both of these graphics cards. Stable framerates are possible, but not without sacrifices.

Moving on to our GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580 graphics cards, we know that both GPUs can offer a stable 60+ FPS when using the game’s high preset, granting these GPUs a great balance between graphical fidelity and high framerate gameplay. Higher-end graphics cards can achieve 60+ FPS framerates at Ultra.

As we reach the RTX 2070 and higher, minimum framerate scaling pretty much stops and the game becomes CPU bound in certain instances. Yes, average framerates continue to rise, but it looks like we will need a higher-end processor to achieve higher minimum framerates. Our 4GHz i7-6850K isn’t the best CPU by today’s standards, especially when modern Coffee Lake series CPUs can reach clock speeds as high as 5GHz.
