Time of Day – A Day and Night performance difference

Agents of Mayhems performance can change drastically for a number of reasons, though one of the largest factors that affect game performance is direct sunlight, either at street level, through a window.

Direct Sunlight causes much more intensive shadows to appear in-game, which don’t occur at night, in many indoor locations or when the weather is overcast. This makes the city of Seoul much more demanding during the day, so much so that we recorded a performance differential of around 40% when playing through the same location during the day (with full sunlight) and during the night.   

We found this out during our early performance tests and we did not use the same locations as our final GPU benchmark location, so these results are not directly comparable to our other performance results for Agents of Mayhem.
