Battlefield V PC Performance Review

CPU Performance – DirectX 11

For our CPU testing, we decided to test Battlefield V in the “Tirailleurs” War Story, where there is a large number of enemy and allied soldiers to spend CPU cycles on.

In the graph below we can see that Intel generally holds a performance advantage here, though our AMD Ryzen system doesn’t fall far behind. Only our dual-core Intel setup dips below 60FPS during this test sequence, which makes sense given the fact that this setup sits below Battlefield V’s PC system requirements.

Beyond that, all we can really say is that player will require a minimum of four strong cores in heavy scenes, with the game showing a clear preference for quad-core CPUs with hyperthreading, but little scaling after that. Perhaps we will see some better use of higher core counts under DirectX 12, though this API currently offers too many bugs and framerate dips to be considered “worth testing”.

The long story short here is that Battlefield V likes having more than four CPU threads, but offers little to no scaling when moving up for a quad-core octa-thread setup.
