Still using FSR 2.1?
While CD Projekt Red has been keen to keep up with all of Nvidia’s new DLSS technologies, the company has not been as keen to update to AMD’s newer versions of FSR. While we do not expect Cyberpunk 2077 to feature FSR 3 yet, it is strange to see Cyberpunk lack support for AMD’s FSR 2.2 upscaler. Hopefully we will see an FSR 3 update for Cyberpunk 2077 soon. It is a shame that AMD users are not getting the same upscaler updates as Nvidia users have.
The good news about Cyberpunk 2077’s FSR support is that it can provide huge performance gains and deliver strong visual results. Yes, DLSS does deliver better upscaling in some cases. That said, unless you are pixel peeping or looking at side-by-side comparisons, it is hard to notice the difference.
Below we can see how much FSR 2.1 can boost the performance of our RX 7900 XTX at 4K Ultra settings. With future updates, AMD’s FSR 3 Frame Generation tech could come to Cyberpunk 2077, allowing AMD GPUs to see larger framerate boosts in-game.
