Far Cry 5 PC Performance Review

CPU Scaling – Ryzen VS Intel

In our CPU tests, we can see that Far Cry 5 likes to have a lot of cores to play with, though ultimately we believe that single-threaded performance is limiting the game, though not to the extent that our 4GHz Broadwell-E and Ryzen offerings are having any significant issues.

Going below four full CPU cores, we can see a huge performance decrease, though our dual-core Hyperthreaded setup was still able to keep the game over 60FPS at the game’s maximum settings.

Moving from four cores to our SMT enabled Ryzen simulation, and we can see some negative scaling for AMD, though only a handful of frames are lost here. This performance is regained moving up to a 6-core CPU, though beyond this point the performance gains are marginal.
