Graphical Settings Comparison – GTX 1060 VS RX 580

Today marks the first round of game testing where we have ditched our faithful RX 480 for AMD’s newer RX 580 equivalent, offering a fairer AMD VS Nvidia comparison. Both Graphics cards are using each company’s latest drivers on a system that uses an Intel i7 6850K at 4GHz.

What is clear below is that AMD’s RX 580 offers a performance advantage over Nvidia’s GTX 1060, though outside of the game’s low settings the gameplay experience off both cards is nigh identical. In most cases, there is only a handful of frames in it, leaving users of AMD and Nvidia hardware in a great position.

The reason why out testing here is at 1440p is because Far Cry 5 is fairly easy to run on modern hardware, with both cards handling 1080p with 60 FPS framerates at 1080p with ease at Ultra Settings. We needed to increase the game’s resolution to 1440p to present our RX 580 and GTX 1060 GPUs with a proper challenge.
