PCSpecialist Cobalt Nova Review Image

Introduction

With the launch of the latest 14th Generation Intel CPUs it will come as no surprise that there is a new affordable gaming system from PCSpecialist in the form of the PCSpecialist Cobalt Nova. Taking their famous careful component selection and blending it with the newest Intel Core i5-14600K processor and the sweet spot of the Nvidia cards it threatens to be all the gaming system you actually need.

If you’re a regular reader of OC3D you’ll be familiar with the way we test our systems, but as this is the first time we had a go with the new 14th Generation Intel processors – this PCSpecialist Cobalt Nova arrived before the CPUs from Intel did – we’re going slightly away from our usual methodology to put it up against its predecessor as well as the most similar rival CPU from AMD. Obviously by the time you read these words our full review of the newest Intel models will be available, where they’re compared against a whole host of the processors we’ve previously reviewed, as well as being used with our normal GPU setup. But we still think that comparing processors this way, in a more ‘plug in and go’ way might be a useful extra piece of information.

In those benchmarks where the graphics card can make a serious difference we’ll obviously return to comparing this newest PCSpecialist Cobalt Nova against the other models we’ve reviewed in the past, with the PCSpecialist Vortex Master probably closest to this model in price and specification. We understand with so many reviews hitting our site today you’ve a lot of content to read through, and PCS are so famed for their build quality and performance that we don’t need to expound further upon why you should choose them if you’re in the market for a pre-built rig. Therefore let’s look at the system specifications before casting our eye over the system itself.
