F1 23 PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

4K Ultra Settings

At 4K Ultra, F1 23 can make most gaming PCs cry. Native 4K is a demanding resolution, and adding ray tracing into the mix can hit most gaming PCs hard. Only Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4090 can achieve solid 60+ FPS framerates without adding upscalers like DLSS or FSR into the mix. Again, Nvidia graphics cards outperform their Nvidia counterparts because of this game’s heavy use of ray tracing, showcasing the strength of Nvidia’s ray tracing hardware and the relative weakness of their competition. That said, things move in AMD’s favour at high settings.

4K High settings

At 4K high settings, GPUs like AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 or Nvidia;s RTX 3070 Ti can easily achieve 60+ FPS framerates without relying on DLSS or FSR 2, with faux-K 60+ FPS experiences being available to much lower-end graphics cards using these features. F1 23 is a well optimised PC game, and while the game is taxing when maxed out, turning down things to high gives gamers a highly performant title that retains high levels of graphical fidelity.
